Ever thought of entering the London Marathon? Staff and students from the University of Dundee are invited to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the National Heart Research Fund ('Heart Research') by helping them meet their target of 35 runners in the Heart Research team on April 14th 2002.
Heart Research provides funding for vital heart research at the University of Dundee - and has secured 25 guaranteed 'Gold Bond' places for runners willing to pound out the 26 miles. Individuals who have obtained their own place through the ballot system are also needed to help raise funds for research into Britain's biggest killer. Mike Garnett, Fundraiser at Heart Research said, "We work as a team; supporting our runners before the event with help and advice on fundraising. On the day we are there waiting at the end, to congratulate and comfort."
If you can accept the challenge of joining our team, and think you can pound your feet to the beat of the world's most famous marathon for Heart Research, please contact Mike Garnett or Helen Grimditch on 0113 234 7474.
The fantastic efforts of this year's team exceeded the target of £55,000. Heart Research is currently funding over £1.4 million of research projects throughout the UK. Recent funding includes the world's first permanent artificial heart device, Jarvik 2000, which was implanted into Peter Houghton last year. -ENDS- News release issued by Sharon Dredge, National Heart Research Fund Telephone: 0113 297 6205
