photo opportunity: Friday 9 November, 12:45pm, 1st floor conference suite, Tower Building, University of Dundee

The New Scotland: New Politics lectures series continues Friday, 9 November at the University of Dundee as Conservative MSP Alex Johnstone offers his views on issues affecting agriculture and horticulture in Scotland.

A member for the North East of Scotland constituency since June 1999, Alex Johnstone's previous occupation was a dairy and arable farmer on the farms of Tannachie and Waters.

Married with two children, Alex has been active in the Young Farmers movement both at local and national level and is currently a member of the Crofting Cross Party Group. This group provides a platform for parliamentarians to discuss all issues relating to the structure of crofting and to provide further knowledge of the crofting way of life.

The series will continue on Friday 16 November with Roseanna Cunningham MSP, deputy leader of the SNP. The series will resume after the Christmas break with Jack McConnell MSP, Tavish Scott MSP and Sir David Steel MSP.

Notes to Editors:
Alex Johnstone MSP will be replacing Annabel Goldie, deputy leader of the Scottish Conservative Party, who was originally advertised to talk on 9 November.
