Do you have a strong interest in contemporary dance?
Could you represent Scottish Dance Theatre on Dundee Rep Board?
Scotland's principal contemporary dance company, The Scottish Dance Theatre - one of three elements which makes up Dundee Rep Theatre Ltd - is seeking someone with the interest and commitment to fulfil this role.
Those interested - who are likely to be senior staff in local employment at the university or elsewhere - will be invited to meet artistic director Janet Smith and Dundee Rep Theatre chief executive Hamish Glen.
SDT has recently been awarded a Lottery grant of over £662,000 to build a new Dance Studio on the Dundee Rep site. Under the artistic directorship of Janet Smith, t he company has grown in both size and status over the last four years, employing a company of dancers on a seasonal basis, working with internationally famous choreographers, touring the UK to great acclaim and now beginning to tour abroad. Hamish Glen: "SDT has a firm and absolute commitment in terms of education work and the central role that it should play in the company's work."
The new board member will be part of SDT's business sub-committee which meets five times a year and consists of chairperson, the artistic director (Janet Smith), senior administrator (Amanda Chinn), chair of the Rep Board (Sinclair Aitken) and Dundee Rep executive officers (Hamish Glen and Joanna Reid).
This board member, along with Janet Smith, will represent SDT on Dundee Rep's Board. The board member should have an interest in contemporary dance and a willingness to become closely involved with SDT and to offer their skills and experience to champion the company at board level and help it to develop further.
