Degree show
You are invited to a media preview of the degree show on Thursday 20 May at 10am. Please call press office
to book a place.
From Duncan of Jordanstone's own nautical stop-frame animation with unique fishermen Archie and Joff to a
stunning portrait of a student's father with a 3D nose and sculptures made from vegetable fat, this year's
degree show is another breathtaking display of creativity and talent at the University of Dundee.
Over 200 students in fine art, design, television and imaging and architecture will show the culmination of
their four years of study at the annual degree show opening on Friday 21 May.
For the first time The School of Television & Imaging presents its first graduates from the newly validated
BA (Honours) courses in Animation & Electronic Media, Illustration, and Time Based Art.
Exhibiting in the degree show are three students whose art clinched prizes at the Royal Scottish Academy
(RSA) Student Exhibition earlier this year. Emma Pratt who won the RSA prize for sculpture will be exhibiting
sculptures made from vegetable fat inspired by her dad who is a chef and used to let her play with lumps of
fat when she was young.
Simon Reekie who won the Rendevous Gallery/Linda Nolan Award will also be exhibiting an exceptional portrait
of his father with a 3D nose.
Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design Professor Georgina Follett said: "Once again we are
looking forward to an outstanding degree show. Each year we are amazed at the ingenuity and dedication of our
final year students. The Show is a ‘must see’ event to which all are invited. As Dean of the Faculty I
