Photo opportunity 3pm, Tuesday 18 May, Falcon Scott Suite, Discovery Point, Dundee.
An important meeting on town planning and how it effects community regeneration is being hosted today by the
University of Dundee at Discovery Point.
Craig McLaren, Director of the Scottish Centre for Regeneration from Communities Scotland will be spelling
out their blueprint for planning so that community services can integrate and provide a better living
environment for local people.
Greg Lloyd, from the Geddes Institute at the University of Dundee said: "This seminar offers an important
opportunity to address the issues associated with community planning in Dundee. The day will allow us to
explore outside connections and city wide experiences with social inclusion partnerships to inform the way
community planning will develop."
Town planning is particularly exciting for Dundee currently with the proposed redevelopment of the water
front area. Participants at today's meeting will be looking at this and other local examples of planning that
will aid the City’s economy and development.
Patrick Geddes was the father of town planning. A professor at the University of Dundee, the Geddes Institute
for Town Planning is named after him.
