C# strikes a chord with programmers

With a little help from his students, lecturer Glenn Rowe of the University of Dundee's Applied Computing
department had his latest book published. 'From Java to C#', Glenn's sixth title is likely to prove popular
with budding programmers wanting to master one of the worlds latest languages.
The book describes a new computer programming language, C#, introduced by Microsoft that is becoming very
popular for the development of all types of software including graphics, databases and web applications.
To ensure the book meets the needs of students and other readers trying to advance their programming skills,
Glenn requested the help of a group of his students to review the book in its early stages and make sure it
was both easy to understand and informative. "The student feedback was invaluable," explained Glenn. "With
their help, I know the book meets their needs and acts as a successful learning aid for programmers."
With the continued popularity of computer programming courses in universities and the increase of self-taught
programming in the home, the book will help bridge a gap between Java, the most commonly taught language at
UK universities and the new C# language.
The textbook will be available from most good book shops and will also be available online.
