The University of Dundee will play host to researchers in the field of fluid mechanics at a one-day meeting to be held in the Bonar Hall on Wednesday 28 May 2003.
The occasion is the 16th Annual Scottish Fluid Mechanics Meeting, attracting mathematicians, engineers, oceanographers and meteorologists from universities, industry and government laboratories.
The event was initiated in 1986 by Professor Peter Davies (Division of Civil Engineering, University of Dundee) with the objective of bringing together in informal surroundings the many researchers working in different branches of fluid mechanics in Scottish universities.
The opportunities afforded by the meeting to present recent research and discuss opportunities for collaboration have proved so attractive that the meeting has become established as the premier event of its kind in Scotland. It is now being held for the 16th time and the 3rd time in Dundee.
Since the first meeting in 1986 in Dundee, each of the Scottish universities has hosted the event in turn on an annual basis and the delegates are now drawn not only from Scotland but also from the rest of the UK and overseas. Details of the meeting can be obtained from the organisers Prof P A Davies, Dr P Dong and Dr J Kobine in the Division of Civil Engineering or from the dedicated web site http://www.personal.dundee.ac.uk/~jkobine/SFM03/
