The University of Dundee's Institute for Cardiovascular Research (TICR) is laying down the gauntlet to Scots to exercise their hearts and prevent themselves falling prey to Scotland's number one killer - heart disease.
The annual TICR trek, a nine mile walk around Pitlochry's countryside will challenge walkers from the most experienced hikers to families looking for a weekend jaunt to take part in the event on the weekend of 30-31 August.
One in three Scots die of heart disease. This is why TICR is organising a sponsored walk to increase heart rates and boost funds for essential research into heart disease. TICR is a new centre of excellence at the University of Dundee dedicated to the prevention and cure of heart related illnesses.
The walk - a nine (or alternative three) mile round trek in Pitlochry through Faskally Wood, up to Garry bridge, round by the Linn of Tummel and back to the Pitlochry power station will boast prizes for the most worthy effort of the weekend, for the top fundraiser and also for the team who come top in the quiz - based on the trek, surrounding area and local history.
