The University of Dundee's Institute for Cardiovascular Research (TICR) is holding an information evening to enlist volunteers in the fight against Scotland's number one killer heart disease.
The TICR campaign needs a further £1.9 million for the completion of a centre of excellence at Ninewells Hospital which will bring together on one site skilful clinicians and researchers from all areas of the University's Medical School who have a special interest in the prevention and treatment of heart disease.
TICR is seeking volunteers who would like to support the campaign by becoming involved in some of the high profile events which are planned for the coming months. Details of these events will be revealed at the information evening, which takes place at 6pm on Tuesday, June 3, in the University Tower Building's 1st floor conference suite. Those who attend will also hear more about the work of the TICR's researchers and the progress of the campaign to date.
A major milestone was celebrated recently when TICR reached its "phase one" target of £1.6 million to build a suite of clinical research rooms at Ninewells. The suite was officially opened last month by TICR patron Lorraine Kelly.
