Former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mo Mowlam will give a candid account of her courageous political and personal battles when she visits Dundee on Tuesday May 28.
Guest at the Dundee Book Event at the University of Dundee, Mo will speak about her autobiography Momentum, in which she frankly recounts her experiences inside Blair's government and her own fight against a brain tumour.
Mo entered Government after battling with her illness. With the help of friends, aides and staff, she made a full comeback to health and was able to take on her role as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland with a sense of purpose and determination.
In Momentum, Mo describes the peace process leading up to the Good Friday Agreement and looks at the Irish and English institutions and differing parties that helped and hindered the process.
On Tuesday, Mo will discuss her frank autobiography with the chair of Dundee Book Events, Dr Ann Swinfen.
Dr Swinfen said, "Dundee Book Events has been bringing books, authors and writers together in Dundee since 1995 but Mo Mowlam is our first politician. We are looking forward immensely to welcoming her not only as a politician and writer but also as a woman of immense personal courage."
Mo's name will be added to an outstanding list of speakers who have appeared at Dundee Book Events, including Tom Baker, Iain Banks, Magnus Magnusson, Elaine C Smith and Joanna Trollope.
The evening begins at 7pm in the University Tower Extension Lecture Theatre. Tickets are priced £2.50 and are available from Ottakars Booksellers (formerly James Thin), Dundee.
