The latest free concert this Friday (31 May) at the University of Dundee's Chaplaincy will feature the work of Elgar performed by two local schoolgirls.
Miriam McFadyen, a violinist at Morgan Academy, and Kate Ross from Craigie High, who plays the cello, are both about to commence a BA course in Musical Studies this year, at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow.
The lunchtime concerts are held every Friday at 1.20pm during term-time and are very popular. The University's Music Co-ordinator, Graeme Stevenson has said: "The concerts are always packed. We have a variety of performers, from the University as well as visitors from elsewhere. People find a musical lunch break very relaxing."
The last concert, on June 7, is to be a chamber performance of Haydn's final symphony, no. 104, which will be performed by both members of staff and students. The concerts generally run for about half an hour, during which snacks and drinks are available.
