A unique exhibition of an undergraduate's work opens in the Visual Research Centre at the University of Dundee on Wednesday 30 May. A retrospective of the work of David Hill - a third year student from Motherwell who died in November - has been put together by his college friends.
This is the first time that an undergraduate's work has been professionally exhibited in DCA and is a testament to the quality of his studies. David (19) was already a highly accomplished artist working in his favourite mediums watercolour and oil to produce large scale portraits.
Student Philip Molloy said: "This exhibition is an opportunity to view the work of an artist who would have undoubtedly gone on to be recognised as one of Scotland's finest young painters. The paintings on show communicate a passion and compassion for their subject, and also display deep understanding of context and aesthetic and a love of the human form.
The exhibition will feature drawings, sketches and paintings including a giant self-portrait called "Pieces of Me" which the artist completed just days before falling ill.
The exhibition runs from May 31 to June 10 at the University of Dundee's Visual Research Centre in Dundee Contemporary Arts.ENDS
