'Four' he's a jolly good fellow
Four academics from the University of Dundee's Division of Applied Computing have been elected
Fellows of the British Computer Society.
Dr Peter Gregor's fellowship recognises his work on widening access to IT and for making
human-computer interfaces easier for all to use. Dr Norman Alm has received his fellowship for his
multidisciplinary work on computer systems for older people. Prof John Arnott has been elected for
his work on communication support for people with disabilities and Dr Steve Parkes has been
recognised for his work on computer systems for spacecraft.
The new fellows join their colleague Prof Alan F. Newell MBE in sharing this honour.
Dr Mike Rodd, Director of Knowledge Services and External Relations at the British Computer Society
said, "We are delighted that four staff from Applied Computing at Dundee University have been
elected Fellows of the British Computer Society. The British Computer Society is the leading
professional body for the IT industry. Fellowship of the society is strictly limited to those who
can demonstrate to their peers sustained excellence in their field and professional standing in the
community."
