Outstanding students receive awards

Six University of Dundee students are to be presented with their first cheques for prizes up to a total value
of £1000 as part of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences entrant bursaries scheme for 2003-2004.
The bursaries, part of the Armitstead Bursary Fund which was originally set up in 1823 to assist entrants to
first and second year will be awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences,
Professor Michael Davies.
A range of awards are to be presented including the Academic Excellence bursary of £500, presented to an
entrant undergraduate student with an excellent academic record and the £1,000 Dundee Citizen's Bursary
awarded to a Dundee citizen based on academic merit and personal circumstance.
The Students to be awarded with their semester one cheques are:
Christopher Robson (BSc Applied Computing), Dundee citizen award, £1,000
Ahmed Al-Saffar (BSc Applied Computing), Mature student award, £500
Lisa Carr, (BSc Mathematics), Academic Excellence award, £300
Louise Lilburn, (Civil Engineering), Women in Engineering award, £300
Jinat Rahman (BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering), Academic Excellence/Women in Engineering awards, £500
Timon Scheven, (Meng Civil Engineering Design and Management), Academic Excellence award, £300
"I am delighted to present the Armitstead bursaries to such deserving students and hope they continue to
display further achievements within their chosen degrees," said Professor Michael Davies.
Students will be awarded their second semester bursaries following successful completion of semester one.
