Radio Tay's Caring For Kids appeal will present The Institute of Cardiovascular Research (TICR) of the
University of Dundee with a cheque at Ninewells hospital, this Tuesday, 23 March.
TICR Chairman, Robert McLaren and Professor Allan Struthers of the University's Clinical Pharmacology &
Therapeutics department will accept the £900 donation from Alastair Brookes, the Caring For Kids appeal
coordinator and Radio Tay presenter, Ward McGaughrin.
The TICR campaign is raising funds for a new Institute for Cardiovascular Research bringing together a team
of specialists in five medical disciplines to enable detection and intervention of heart-related diseases at
an earlier stage.
"The Caring for Kids donation brings us one step closer to our target of raising £3.5m to fund the new
Institute of Cardiovascular Research, explains Robert McLaren. "In light of a recent study of Tayside
children showing that 20% of those studied demonstrated evidence of the early signs of cardiovascular
disease, this donation is a great help."
