Research staff at the University of Dundee have been awarded a clutch of prestigious UK and international appointments over the last month furthering the University's reputation as a hotbed of innovation and world class research.
Professor Jerry Lambert in the department of pharmacology and neuroscience has been chosen by the British Pharmalogical Society as their Australian visitor. Professor Lambert will visit all the major Australian universities where he will deliver a series of lectures.
Dr Dick Lerski of medical physics has been elected a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. This is unusual for a medical physicist, and recognises the work he has done in advancing the practice of physics in medicine.
Head of admissions and student recruitment Gordon Craig has been given the accolade 'faculty star' by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for an outstanding presentation he gave at their last conference on recruitment strategies.
Professor Marion McMurdo in the section of ageing and health has been elected president-elect of the Scottish Council of the British Geriatrics society. Dr Miles Witham, a clinical research fellow in ageing and health has been warded the prestigious Taylor Brown prize for his scientific presentation at the autumn Scottish geriatrics society meeting.
