Dance 2K, a local dancing troop will present The Institute for Cardiovascular Research (TICR) at the University of Dundee with a cheque for £400 tonight as they open their new show Tantrums and Tiaras.
The money was raised by the dance troop at a show called Canned Heat in the University's Bonar Hall in September. The dancers will present the cheque to TICR events chairman Bill Anderson.
Bill said: "Isn't it wonderful to see these children doing their splendid best for a worthy cause. They have spent seven months rehearsing for their big show. I wish them all the best of luck and thank them for their kind donation to improving Scotland's health."
TICR will bring together on one site, skilful clinicians and researchers from all areas of the University of Dundee's Medical School who have a special interest in the prevention and treatment of heart disease. The clinical research rooms will allow interaction between research staff and patients. TICR is the first institute of its kind in Scotland bringing together experts from different fields to tackle heart disease.
The TICR fundraising committee has now raised £1.6 million and is on track to reach its £3.2 million target.
The money will go towards funding the phase 2 of TICR. Phase one, a suite of clinical research rooms for staff and patients were opened earlier this month by TICR patron Lorraine Kelly.
