An experimental collaboration between postgraduate students at the Universities of Dundee and St Andrews will culminate this Sunday with an exhibition of creative writing and visual arts.
Fine Art students from the University of Dundee's Faculty of Art and Design and M.Litt Creative Writing students from the University of St Andrews have spent the last three months sharing ideas to create collaborative works.
The result, a compelling combination of images and text entitled "Exchange and Make", will be displayed at the University of Dundee's Visual Research Centre at Dundee Contemporary Arts.
The project highlights a growing partnership between the Universities of Dundee and St Andrews, the aim of which is to expand teaching and research.
Fine Art lecturer Kevin Henderson, from Dundee, and Creative Writing lecturer Professor Douglas Dunn, from St Andrews, have led the joint project and will be assisting the students when they install their work at VRC on Sunday.
Mr Henderson said, "Throughout history there has been a close relationship between writing and visual arts. The aim of the project was to provide the opportunity for the students to meet and discuss a broad range of ideas, free of strict boundaries. Both groups of students have developed some exciting ideas inspired by their meetings.
Professor Dunn said, "The students have benefited from speaking to others from a different creative discipline. The project has allowed them to develop different kinds of ideas and different ways of dealing with reality through the imagination."
The exhibition will be installed at the VRC on Sunday afternoon and officially opened at 6pm. It will be open to the public from Tuesday March 19 until Thursday March 21, from 10am to 5pm.
