Local interest again in DUSA elections

The elections to the Executive Committee of Dundee University Students' Association again took on a local perspective as for the second year running a Dundonian, Maurice Golden was elected President. This follows on from Matthew Marr's election last year as the first local President in a decade.

The keenly contested elections, which took place on Friday, saw three of this year's Committee re-elected to their positions. Louise Davies (Vice President Representation) and Chris McDonald (Vice President Communications) will join Chris Bustin (Deputy President), Graham Beers (Vice President Services), and Grant Simpson (Honorary Secretary) on next year's committee. They will take up their posts from August 1 later this year.

Matthew Marr, current DUSA President, said:

"Those elected on Friday have the makings of a first class team.

"I am very confident that they will carry forward the successes of this year's committee."

Maurice Golden, current Vice President and now President-elect, said:

"We are all delighted to have been elected to the committee.

"The levels of continuity between the two Executive's will hopefully allow us to continue to develop areas of concern such as representation campaigns and the £4 million redevelopment of DUSA."
