A group of German primary school teachers arrive at the University of Dundee tomorrow where they will spend a week studying English at the Centre for Applied Language Studies.
English is gradually being introduced into the German school curriculum for younger pupils, so the 14 teachers - who come from what used to be the eastern half of Berlin and most of whom have never had the opportunity to travel abroad before - are coming to Dundee to brush up on their own English skills.
The visit has been made possible by contact between the Centre for Applied Language Studies and the British Council's Berlin office. The British Council has partly sponsored the trip.
In addition to attending a 20-hour language course at the University, the teachers have visited several local schools over the last week to converse with young pupils and find out more about Scottish teaching methods.
They will also be taking some time off to visit local tourists attractions, including Verdant Works, Arbroath Abbey and Dundee Contemporary Arts. David Catterick, English tutor at the Centre for Applied Language Studies said, "We are delighted to welcome the teachers to the University and are looking forward to helping them improve their English skills at the Centre for Applied Language Studies.
"This is the first time the centre has hosted a visit from German teachers and we are pleased we have been able to strike up this important international partnership."
Mr Catterick will be greeting the teachers when they arrive at the University at 11am tomorrow, March 22.
