A group of animation students from the University of Dundee have used their initiative to combat their geographical isolation from the southern hub of their industry.
The group of Duncan of Jordanstone-based final year student are transporting their degree show the 500 miles to London, where their creations will be screened before some of the top names in the TV, film and advertising world.
The 17 students' show will take place at the Curzon Cinema in Soho on Wednesday June 26 at noon and 5pm, and on Thursday June 27 at noon - the first time that animation students have exhibited their degree show work outside Dundee.
They have invited major players in the animation, television, commercials and film industries from all over the South of the UK. The screenings are sponsored by Telemagination and Picasso Pictures.
Tracey McConnell Wood, animation course director said, "There is a lot more happening down south and the leading companies in this field perhaps do not feel the need to make the trip north to see the new talent that is coming out of places like Duncan of Jordanstone. While we would rather not lose our graduates, a fair proportion of them do head down to London and the south of England to take up their careers.
"The Curzon Cinema is at the heart of TV advertising in London. There are a lot of potential buyers from the TV and advertising worlds just around the corner, from whom we have had quite a bit of interest, so in terms of showcasing the students' work, this is an ideal opportunity for them."
