There are pots of talent on display at this year's Duncan of Jordanstone Degree Show, including the towering creations of Sarah McPake, whose ceramic vessels are taller than she is!
Petite Sarah is 4'11" and issues surrounding her height have been the inspiration for the mammoth hand-made pots which are now standing tall in the College of Art & Design, University of Dundee. Sarah, 22, from Glasgow, has explored ideas of safety and sanctuary, image and identity. Many of the ceramics take more than a week to make and large enough for Sarah to fit comfortably inside.
Sarah's work will be on display during the Degree Show amongst that of more than 200 final year students specialising in art forms from architecture and animation to textiles and time-based art. Almost every room, corridor and stairwell has been transformed into gallery space and most of the work is for sale - possibly giving visitors the chance to own early work by the next Fiona Banner or Simon Starling.
DoJ degree shows never fail to contain innovative and exciting artworks and this year is no different. You will find everything from colourful jewellery fashioned from rubber gloves, to wearable wire sculptures. But there will be no disappointments for the lover of more traditional art forms, and there is some spectacular drawing and painting on show.
The exhibition preview takes places on Friday June 14 from 6.30-9.30pm
