The University of Dundee's department of mechanical engineering and physics mechanical engineering are to throw down the gauntlet to over 100 school pupils from Tayside and central regions tomorrow in a krypton factor style challenge at the Dundee University Technology and Engineering Challenge.
Aspiring designers and manufacturers from secondary schools will be challenged to produce a security device with a basic materials kit in just five hours. The pupils will be encouraged to consider the marketing potential of their products - poster design and the preparation of a press release will be considered in the judging.
Alan Slade, Dutech day organiser said: "This one day event is all about introducing potential undergraduates to life at the University and more specifically to life as an engineering student. They will discover that engineering is fun - it's not all about getting your hands dirty and dull lectures. The pupils really enjoy themselves and get stuck into the spirit of the challenge."ENDS
