Scaffolding is up, materials are being stockpiled and the builders are on alert for 23 June when Belmont Hall at the University of Dundee will undergo one of the speediest make-overs in the space of thirteen weeks.
Two of the Belmont blocks including the dominant tower will house the first ensuite facilities on campus - 84 ensuite bedrooms with internet access in a self-financing project worth £3 million. The rooms will be ready for the new intake of students in October.
David Yule, Assistant Director of Estates at the University of Dundee said: "Careful planning and contractor selection has resulted in a rapid 13 week programme which will ensure that the new students will be able to move into their modern accommodation at the beginning of term without any upset."
The University of Dundee currently offers ensuite facilities in West Park and Seabraes Halls on the Perth Road and Roseangle. The Belmont make over is part of a rolling programme to upgrade all University accommodation and provide modern facilities for all students.ENDS
