The University of Dundee's Graphic Design department is celebrating the success of four of its students in recent career-launching competitions.
Lisa Wilson, from East Kilbride, scooped two awards at the New Designers show in London last week - the Hallmark Cards Future of Design Award for Original Talent and the Tigerprint Future of Design Award. Each award is worth £1500 and the Tigerprint award also wins Lisa a four week placement with the company. Judges described Lisa's ideas as 'exciting and varied with clever project concepts.'
Meanwhile, in the British Design & Art Direction (D&AD) Student Awards, Debbie Mackay, from Campeltown took first place in the Information Design category. Students were asked to design a fundamental improvement in the way information for a familiar medication is communicated to enhance its safe use, and Debbie redesigned packs for the drug Warfarin.
Also at the D&AD awards, Stephen Flynn, from Carnoustie, and Simon Ramsay, from Edinburgh received commendations in the TV Graphics category, where students were asked to develop a short screen identity sequence to brand a TV parent company and a sub-brand channel tailored to a specific age or lifestyle group.
Graphics tutor Gordon Robertson said, "All four students showed real talent, imagination and clear thinking in their respective categories and their success also reflects well on quality of Graphics teaching at the University."
