16% Increase in University of Dundee Student Applications
The latest university application figures released by UCAS indicate a stunning success for the University of
Dundee. Applications to Dundee have increased by more than 16% in 2003 over 2002 figures. This represents the
highest percentage increase of any Scottish University.
Senior Admissions Officer, Gordon Black, said, "We are delighted with the rise in applications to the
University. We believe that this success is attributable to a number of factors:
- The development of innovative new courses which have attracted record numbers of applicants for example the development of inter-disciplinary courses such as Innovative Product Design and Interactive Media Design have each attracted in excess of 230 applicants for 50 places
- The increase in the number of organised visit days and the record number of applicants who visited the University on these visit days and saw for themselves the quality of the Dundee experience
- Dundee itself is a major factor in influencing student choice parents and students like the fact the city-centre campus environment and thefriendly atmosphere
- The high quality teaching and research environment Dundee was recently ranked in the top 10 for teaching in the UK ahead of Oxford
- The advent of modularization and semesterisation which will enable students to have greater flexibility in their choice of course.
