The University of Dundee has topped the league for student applications this year, showing the highest percentage increase of all the Scottish universities according to official UCAS figures just released.
The number of applications to the University of Dundee has risen by 22.45per cent compared with last year - five times the average increase for Scottish universities.
University of Dundee applications this year total 9,692 compared with 7,915 last year.
Over 1,700 more applications have been received by Dundee this year. While the majority of the increase comes from "home" students - which are up 22.91per cent from 7,499 to 9,217 - there is also a healthy increase in the number of applications from overseas, up 14.18per cent from 416 to 475.
Director of Admissions and Student Recruitment Gordon Craig welcomed the UCAS figures: "It is good to see Dundee's burgeoning reputation for all round excellence really making an impact on the next generation of professionals, entrepreneurs and decision makers. The latest six teaching quality results which gave Dundee top ratings across the board in history, geography, English, computing, economics and law have all made an impact and a range of new and innovative courses has undoubtedly attracted more. But in addition to that, students today understand that the big cities of the central belt cannot offer them the same quality of experience as a compact, relatively inexpensive and well sited 'univer-city' like Dundee."
