Spirits were soaring in the Centre for Applied Language Studies as an amazing 168 students of 5 languages (French, Gaelic, Italian, Spanish) on the Languages in Lifelong Learning programme received a Certificate in Modern Languages for successfully completing all coursework and an oral exam.
Hilary Harvey, a student on the part-time Certificate in Higher Education in European Studies deserves a special mention because she picked up 3 Certificates in 3 different languages, 2 with Distinction!
Marion Sporing, Programme Director for Languages in Lifelong Learning, praised the great achievement of all the language learners in Tayside who are helping to eschew the image of Brits as non-language learners, especially in this the European Year of Languages.
Dr Arthur McNeill, Director of the Centre for Applied Language Studies, presented the Certificates to students at the award ceremony in June, some of whom are pictured above.
