Non-Art staff Open Exhibition
Photo opportunity: exhibition preview, 5.45pm, Friday 28 January, Lamb Gallery, Tower Building,
University of Dundee
Reviving an old tradition, the University of Dundee's non-art staff exhibition opens to the public
tomorrow and includes an exhibit from the University Rector Lorraine Kelly.
Janitors, lecturers and admin staff are all taking part in the exhibition where traditional pencil
drawings and watercolours will be on display along with modern art pieces and even a collection of
souvenir spoons.
Honorary lecturer and President of the Dundee Art Society, John Berridge started the tradition in
1988 and with interest from staff across the University, the University Exhibitions Department
decided to revive the event.
"I think the show is a great idea" said Kate Martin, Lecturer, Department of Community Education.
"This is the first time I've had anything in an exhibition and I'm delighted - the subject of my
drawing, my nephew Ruaridh, was really pleased when I told him he was going to be in an
exhibition. It is very encouraging for people who enjoy art to be able to show their work and I
hope the non-art staff exhibition will become an annual event."
The exhibition can be seen in the Lamb Gallery, Tower Building, University of Dundee until 26
February. Opening hours are Mon-Fri: 9.30am-8pm, Sat: 9.30am-4.30pm.
