University of Dundee academics have been lauded for their professional achievements in the 2004 New Year Honours list.
Dr Phyllis Windsor, an honorary senior lecturer, has been awarded an MBE for services to radiotherapy and oncology. Dr Windsor, a clinical oncologist specialising in urological cancer, lectures at the department of radiology. Since taking up a consultantıs post at Ninewells Hospital in 1987 she has concentrated on the field of genito-urinary cancers. Dr Windsor has recently completed a research project into how exercise can help prevent tiredness in patients undergoing radiotherapy.
Congratulations also go to Professor Mary Henry, a visiting professor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery who was awarded an OBE. Professor Henry is a consultant nurse with the Scottish Centre for Infection and Environmental Health (SCIEH) based in Glasgow. She is a highly respected nurse adviser on infection control and related areas at both a national and international level.
