The University of Dundee's TICR campaign will tomorrow (Wednesday 28 January) receive a £10,000 donation from a global pharmaceutical company to help in the battle against Scotland's number one killer, heart disease.
The donation will be used to employ a vascular nurse Steve McSwiggan to help care for heart disease patients.
TICR chairman Robert McLaren said, "I am delighted that Sanofi-Synthelabos has made such a generous gesture. The vascular nurse will be crucial in continuing and building on the valuable work of TICR. We have now raised £2.8 million of the £3.5 million target."
Sanofi-Synthelabo's health care manager for Scotland, Mr Reghu Nathan, said, "Sanofi-Synthelabo is pleased to support the TICR appeal with a project that will benefit patients with cardiovascular disease in Tayside. We hope that our involvement in projects such as this will help the understanding of the disease and thereby improve the treatment options and help prevent the occurrence of what is the main cause of death in Scotland."
Sanofi-Synthelabo is an international company with over 33,000 employees on over 100 countries.
