Officers from the Nationality Department of Tayside Police visited the University's Centre for Applied Language Studies last week to help eighteen new overseas students from China and Iran complete Police Registration formalities.
'Having to report to the local Police station on arrival in a foreign country could be very intimidating. We really appreciate the willingness of Tayside Police to provide the Police Registration service on campus. It not only makes the whole process much easier for our students, but also gives them a very positive image of the Police in Dundee as friendly and helpful', said Kim Burns, the University's International Officer.
Dr Arthur McNeill, Director of the Centre for Applied Language Studies, agrees: 'These students are here to improve their English before progressing to their degree courses' tackling the initial administrative tasks can be quite daunting. There are so many complicated forms to fill-in! The University strives to provide as much support as possible with this, and we very much appreciate the assistance of organisations like Tayside Police.'
