A three way partnership which will help young people develop a business idea to fund a six month stint abroad is poised for launch at the University of Dundee on Saturday (26 January).
The FUNdraising Awareness Day involves Link Overseas Exchange, NCR, and Dundee University's Centre for Enterprise Management team. By the end of the day the prospective volunteers will have created a business plan and the best proposal in the eyes of the judges will receive a fundraising boost from NCR.
Link is a Scottish Charity which enables young men and women, graduates and school leavers, to expand horizons through six months experience as volunteers who go and work overseas. Link volunteers need to fund their six months abroad. NCR is interested in communities and the developing of young people towards the world of work. Dundee University's Centre for Enterprise Management (CEM) educates and develops opportunities for coming generations. The three are in partnership to share these common interests and to develop opportunities with and for young people.
On the day John Mackenzie (CEM) will outline a practical business plan for the young volunteers to follow. NCR is providing professional experience and backing.
Professor Horner said: "The day will give young people a unique opportunity to weave a range of dreams and ambitions together - developing business skills, travelling overseas and doing something useful for other people. It aims to provide an extremely fulfilling triple mix. This is a very real partnership between the voluntary sector, education, and work, to encourage entrepreneurship among young people."
