The Power of Geography

The third of six annual Saturday Evening Lectures will take place tomorrow at the University of Dundee with
Dr Vanessa Lawrence, Director General of Ordnance Survey (OS) discussing how technology is effecting
map-making and digital geographical information.
Dr Lawrence - a graduate of the University - will explore the ways in which information services and
decision-making processes are being influenced by technological changes and the role of the OS in providing
the definitive national geographic referencing framework.
OS is a £100 million-a-year organisation providing computer data products and paper maps for a range of fields
and industries including leisure, business and education.
The lecture - Unleashing the Power of Geography: The Geographic Information Industry Goes Mainstream - is
free and open to the public. It will take place at 6pm in the Tower Extension Lecture Theatre, Tower Building,
University of Dundee.
