Clarification on the current AUT/UCEA position
The University of Dundee today comments on the current AUT/UCEA position:
Principal of the University of Dundee Sir Alan Langlands has written to both the AUT and UCEA urging them to
get back round the table and negotiate.
In his letter to Sally Hunt General Secretary of the AUT he urged the union to suspend industrial action
while negotiations are taken forward.
A university spokesperson said: "In common with other universities throughout the country the University of
Dundee would like to see an end to the current action and to see negotiations taken forward by both sides. To
represent this position as simply writing to UCEA without mention of a similar letter being sent to the AUT
is disingenuous and appears to be calculated to misrepresent the true position."
The full text of both letters have been sent to all Scottish University Principals and can be viewed on the
University's website at www.dundee.ac.uk/pressreleases/prfeb04/letters.html
