Despite the rapid move to war it seems that the looming crisis will not prevent BBC war correspondent John Simpson from receiving his honorary degree from the University of Dundee tomorrow.
The Emmy winning correspondent will bring his stories from over 30 years of reporting to a capacity audience in the University's Bonar Hall on Wednesday evening. He will address the auditorium after being dubbed with an LLD by University Chancellor Sir James Black. Simpson was scheduled to receive his honorary degree in the summer of 2002, but due to the nature of his work, was called to report on an international crisis at the last minute.
Simpson will entertain guests, students, staff and members of the public with tales of his career in journalism before moving on to discussing current affairs. With the international community on the precipice, the veteran reporter on world affairs will present an insider's perspective on the current weapons and war debate.
Beforehand the veteran war correspondent will sign copies of his latest book "News from No Man's Land: Reporting the World" with his wife and producer Dee in the Tower Foyer from 4.45-5.30pm.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday 5 February in the Bonar Hall starting at 6pm.
