The chemistry of Christmas
Local school children will be shown the fun side of working in chemistry at the Royal Society of Chemistry Schools’ Christmas Lecture at the universities of Dundee and St Andrews over the next two days.
In his exciting demonstrations, Dr John Kilcoyne of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Sunderland will look at molecules, their structure and size as well as oxidation reactions during his lecture "Cardboard Cows and Chips".
The aim of the RSC Lectures is to promote chemistry to School children.
Dr Kilcoyne will present his lecture at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee today (Wednesday, 14 December) and at the School of Chemistry, University of St. Andrews on Thursday, 15 December. Over 300 S5 and S6 pupils from schools in Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perthshire are expected to attend each lecture.
The Lectures are supported by The Tayside Local Section of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
