Carols by Candlelight

PHOTO CALL:
5 pm, Sunday December 11th,
St Paul's Cathedral
High Street, Dundee

The University of Dundee will hold its traditional Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols in St Paul's Cathedral on Sunday 11 December at 5pm.

The festive favourite will feature the University choir, Chamber choir, readings by staff and students and a selection of traditional Christmas carols.

University Chaplain Rev Dr Fiona Douglas will lead the service assisted by the university's honorary chaplains representing different denominations.

"This is a very special occasion for the University and a very popular one with staff and students and indeed the wider community," she said. "Every year we have visitors from across the local area and we hope this year will be the same.

"It is such a moving and beautiful service held in candlelight and I would encourage anyone looking for a bit of tranquility amidst the festive rush to come along and join us."

The University's music co-ordinator, Graeme Stevenson, is musical director for the service and will be conducting the choirs.

Proceeds from the collection will go to Dundee Cyrenians Reception and Resettlement Centre.
