Secondary school pupils will tomorrow (17 December) attend The Flashing and Banging Chemistry Show at the University of Dundee, designed to educate and enthral young chemists.
The annual Christmas Schools’ Lecture is arranged by the Tayside Section of the Royal Society for Chemistry and aimed at inspiring young teenagers and introducing them to different aspects of the science.
This year's show will be delivered by Dr Donald MacPhee from the University of Aberdeen, and promises over 280 S1 and S2 pupils from Dundee and Angus some dazzling displays and intriguing experiments.
Dr Rob Daley of the University's School of Life Sciences said, "Dr MacPhee's show has been on the road for around eight years and has previously visited most of Scotland including Shetland and the Western Isles. The show will illustrate some exciting and visually interesting examples of chemical reactions, following the themes of colour and combustion and featuring various explosions and coloured flames."
The talk will start at 2pm and continue until approximately 2.45pm.
