Ninety-six bowlers will take part in a ten-hour annual bowling tournament this Sunday at Balgay Bowling
Club to raise funds for the University of Dundee's Institute for Cardiovascular Research (TICR).
Twenty-four teams from Dundee and across Scotland will play a minimum of 35 ends to raise money for the
worthwhile cause. Now in its third year, as well as local bowling clubs, a team from Tayside Fire
Brigade and three all ladies teams will take part in the 2004 tournament that will finish around 6.00pm.
Event organiser Stuart McGowan said, "All participants are looking forward to the competition and with a
£200 prize for the winning team it promises to be a great event. We are hoping to raise at least £500
for TICR."
Local businesses have provided prizes for a raffle and BMI Fernbrae Hospital and Clark Thomson, insurance
brokers, have provided sponsorship for the competition.
The TICR campaign is raising funds for a new Institute for Cardiovascular Research bringing together a
team of specialists in five medical disciplines to enable detection and intervention of heart-related
diseases at an earlier stage.
