University of Dundee Rector Lorraine Kelly will be present as 68 students graduate from the University's
Access Summer School tomorrow (Friday 20 August) before they prepare to embark on their degree courses in
September.
The ceremony will mark the end of an intensive ten week course which gives candidates who had fallen
short of standard entry requirements the opportunity to prove their ability for a degree course. 60 of
the students will start degree courses in subjects ranging from architecture to zoology at the University
of Dundee this year.
Wider Access Study Centre Director, Dr John Blicharski said: "The students have worked very hard to prove
to us, and themselves, that they are ready and able to earn a degree. We are delighted that so many have
made the grade and been able to enjoy their success tonight in the presence of so many friends.
This is the twelfth year that the course has run, so far enabling nearly 700 students to enter
degree-level study."
The ceremony will be followed by a celebratory party in the Dundee University Students Association.
