'Euphonothon' Joe plays in Dundee

Joe Symonds, the University of Dundee medical student who is cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats
with a Euphonium on his back, playing in concerts on his way north, will arrive in Dundee on Wednesday to
take part in a free public concert with his own band, the Tayport Instrumental Band.
Joe has already played with ten bands on the course of his journey and has raised over £4000 for the
Institute for Cardiovascular Research (TICR) at the University of Dundee's Medical School since he
started the fundraising cycle on 21st July.
Joe says: "The trip has been an amazing experience and it is great to be able to play in Dundee. There
have been difficult times but the public response up and down the country has been incredible. I am
hoping to raise at least £5000 for the TICR campaign."
The concert will take place at the Salvation Army Citadel in Dundee on Wednesday 11th August at 7.30pm.
The "Euphonothon" is due to finish in John O'Groats on Friday 13th August.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Joe can send cheques made out to the University of Dundee to TICR campaign,
External Relations, University of Dundee, Dundee DD1 4HN marked "Euphonothon".
The public are invited to attend the free concert starting at 7.30pm to support Joe.
