Got an idea for a new invention but no cash to fund it? The University of Dundee is holding a workshop next week that will detail how to access that funding you need to start up your own enterprise.
SMART Scotland is a pot of cash available to those with a bright innovation or invention who want to set up business in Scotland or pursue an idea that will secure an existing company or enterprise. It is an open competition which aims to stimulate new businesses and to help existing small businesses improve their competitiveness by developing new products and processes to the benefit of the national economy.
The University of Dundee is hosting this workshop to give its staff and students maximum information on funding sources to commercialise their innovative ideas. Dundee is the first University to hold this workshop in house living up to its reputation as a leader in technology transfer.
Jim Allen from the Scottish Executive will lead the session on Tuesday afternoon with an interactive workshop to give people a better understanding of who SMART is aimed at and how to apply. People who have already applied for funding and those who want to find out about SMART are welcome to attend. Contact John Mackenzie on 01382 345430./ENDS
