Experts from all over Scotland will meet at the University of Dundee tomorrow to advise budding entrepreneurs how to turn their ideas into successful business ventures.
Representatives from the Scottish Executive, the Patent Office and Scottish Enterprise will join advisors from the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) funded Centre for Enterprise Management at the University of Dundee to deliver the seminar to over forty members of staff from the University.
The seminar aims to help all our academics and would-be entrepreneurs increase their understanding of the issues, to provide them with clear guidance about how ideas are converted into reality in a commercial environment, to identify the local, national and internal support available to them, and to help them avoid the common pitfalls.
The seminar, run by the Scottish Executive, has been touring Scotland's Universities encouraging and advising staff how to commercialise their ideas. The University of Dundee has already had significant success fostering internationally renowned spin-out companies such as Cyclacel, Cypex and Amcet,
Speakers will include George Hamlyn from the Patent Office who will outline how to protect intellectual property, Eleanor Taylor from the Scottish Executive's Proof of Concept fund who will discuss transforming ideas into successful businesses and Norman Trotter from Kornerstone who will explain licensing and exploitation of products and ideas./ENDS
