5 April 2002
Acclaimed artistic partners Dalziel and Scullion, who are based at the University of Dundee, have been awarded the Bradford Fellowship for 2002/3.
Inaugurated in 1985, this prestigious fellowship is a partnership between the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, Bradford University and Bradford College.
Over the next two years, the artists, who are currently lecturers at the University's School of Fine Art, will work on a wide range of projects, culminating in a major exhibition at The National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford.
Environmental themes form the focus of Dalziel and Scullion's work. They are currently showing at the Boylan Studios, New York and have a major solo exhibition at Milton Keynes Gallery until the 28th April. Their work can be seen in London during May at the Houldsworth Gallery.
Commissioned works include The Horn, now a familiar sight on the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, which broadcasts poignant sound pieces over the frenetic activity of the road, Modern Nature at Elrick Hill in Aberdeenshire and Migrator at Heathrow Airport.
Matthew Dalziel said, "The Bradford Fellowship has already brought a number of internationally recognised artists to Bradford, including Fay Godwin, Paul Graham, Nick Danziger and Perry Hoberman and we are pleased to be added to the list.
" The Museum of Photography, Film and Television has a tremendous archive of photographic, TV and film images and we plan to access this to create new work over the next two years."
