Professor Lucy Shapiro of Stanford University School of Medicine, California, will visit the University of Dundee this Friday to deliver the annual Adam Neville lecture in the School of Life Sciences.
One of the world's leading microbiologists, Lucy was elected to the US National Academy of Sciences in 1994. She is currently Chairman of the Department of Developmental Biology and Director of the new Beckman Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine at Stanford. She was the Chairman of Smithline Beecham's Genomic Advisory Board from 1994-1996 and is a member of the Board of Directors of the newly merged Glaxo SmithKline company.
This is the 14th Adam Neville lecture held in honour of the former Principal of the University of Dundee who held office between 1978 and 1987 and championed life sciences as the key to the University's future.
The lecture entitled "Spatial and temporal control of cell differentiation during the cell cycle" will take place in the small lecture theatre of the Medical Sciences Institute on Friday 27 April at 4pm. The lecture is free and is open to the public.ENDS
