E-learning at the University has experienced exponential growth since the start of this term. The virtual learning environment Blackboard has just recorded 2 million hits from University students - meaning that on average each student has logged into their course material on Blackboard 17 times since the start of term.
So popular is Blackboard with students that those who courses are not on the VLE are asking departments and tutors to create a Blackboard site for their courses. (For a tutor's account of using Blackboard see the next issue of Contact published 27 November.)
There has also been a big increase in the use of the transferrable skills website advance@dundee. With IT suites busier than ever it seems that the University is witnessing an explosion in e-learning.
