Curator to give 'Modern Masters' talk
The curator of the V&A's 'Modern Masters in Print' exhibition, currently on display in Dundee, will give a public talk
later this month giving visitors a unique insight into the works of four of the 20th century's greatest artists - Matisse,
Picasso, Dali and Warhol.
Gill Saunders, Senior Curator from the V&A, will be in Dundee on Thursday September 26th to deliver a public lecture at
the University of Dundee.
Matisse, Picasso, Dali and Warhol were all accomplished and inventive printmakers. In her lecture, 'Modern Masters in Print
: drawing with new tools', Gill will discuss this aspect of their creative practice, revealing the ways in which each of them
found inspiration in print as a medium for experiment and original expression.
The talk takes place in the University's Dalhousie Building at 6pm on Thursday 26th September. Free tickets are available
from events@dundee.ac.uk and www.dundee.ac.uk/tickets
, in person from Tower Building Reception at the University, or by calling 01382 385564 / 385108
Gill will also be giving a talk and informal tour of the exhibition at The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery and Museum,
earlier the same day.
The talk and tour will take place from 1pm on Thursday 26th. Booking is essential to secure a place, and can be done by

Modern Masters in Print is on display at The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery and Museum until November 17th. It
is the third in a series of exhibitions leading up to the opening of V&A at Dundee.
NOTES TO EDITORS
The V&A is the world's leading museum of art and design with collections unrivalled in their scope and diversity.
It was established to make works of art available to all and to inspire British designers and manufacturers. Today,
the V&A's collections, which span over 2000 years of human creativity in virtually every medium and from
many parts of the world, continue to intrigue, inspire and inform.
V&A at Dundee
V&A at Dundee will be an international centre for design, housed in a world-class building at the heart of Dundee's
revitalised waterfront. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate our design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary
talent, and encourage design innovation for the future. Unlike any other museum in Scotland, V&A at Dundee will
focus on design - not design as a separate discipline, but its everyday impact - how it can delight, make things work
and ultimately change lives. V&A at Dundee aims to do what every good museum does - to inform, educate and entertain -
but also explicitly, through its wider programmes, intends to generate new creativity and innovation across Scotland.
V&A at Dundee is being delivered by Design Dundee Ltd, a ground-breaking partnership between the Victoria
and Albert Museum - the world's greatest museum of art and design - and Dundee City Council, the Universities of
Dundee and Abertay Dundee, and Scottish Enterprise.
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) awarded it a first round pass of up to £9.2m, including £200,000 development
funding, in May 2102. The Scottish Government has committed £15m in capital towards the project's £45million budget.
