Dundee ranked in world's top 200
The University of Dundee has been ranked within the world's top 200 universities in the latest edition of Times Higher
Education's World University Rankings.
Professor Pete Downes, Principal of the University of Dundee, said, 'I am pleased to see the Times Higher Education rankings
recognise the quality of Dundee as an institution as ranked against our peers around the world. It is exactly the boost we
are looking for in the week that Dundee sent off its final bid to become UK City of Culture in 2017.
'We operate on a global stage, welcoming students and staff from well over 100 countries to Dundee and engaging in
projects which will help transform lives all over the world, from diabetes care in Kuwait to conservation projects in
the South Atlantic.
'Getting into the top 200 individually ranked universities is an accolade coveted by institutions across the globe and
demonstrates that we meet the most exacting standards of excellence.
'This ranking complements our extremely strong performance in the International Student Barometer, which confirms
the very high opinions our international students have of Dundee.'
Times Higher Education say their World University Rankings are the world's most comprehensive and carefully
calibrated global rankings, using 13 separate performance indicators to examine a university's strengths against all
of its core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. All data are collected,
analysed and verified by global data provider Thomson Reuters. This year's tables employ an identical methodology to
the 2011-12 and 2012-13 rankings for clear year-on-year comparisons.
