'My Diabetes My Way' wins top UK award
A novel University of Dundee project offering people with diabetes across Scotland electronic access to their medical records
has won a top UK award for self care.
'My Diabetes My Way' won the award at the 'Quality in Care Diabetes' awards in Guildford on Thursday night (10th October).
The system allows people to become more active participants in their own diabetes care and users have reported that it
improves their knowledge, motivation, self-management, goal-setting and helps to act as an aide memoir for information
discussed during consultations. Judges commented that, 'This is an example of an initiative that should definitely be
replicated elsewhere'.
Project lead Scott Cunningham said, 'Our goal is to assist patients in better managing their diabetes by offering high
quality information alongside medical results. This is fantastic recognition for the efforts of the project team over
the last five years and is also a tribute to those who made it possible - the people with diabetes who actively use the service.'
